Initial Thoughts… Fourth Watch

In the book of Matthew (14:22-33), the Bible recounts how during the fourth watch of the night, Christ walked on water. His disciples, filled with fear and confusion, initially mistook him for a ghost. Jesus then commands Peter to come to him across the turbulent waters. With faith, Peter steps out and begins walking toward Jesus. However, as strong winds arise, he starts to sink in despair and cries out to Christ for help and salvation.

Christ reaches out his hand and says to Peter, “Oh yea of little faith.”

Even the faithful stumble; we all look for assistance, and in the hands of Christ, we find our salvation.

We are the watchmen, chosen by the Holy Spirit to care for our flock. Yet, there are times when our faith is tested, and we may feel ourselves sinking into despair. With Christ’s unwavering support, manifested through this community, we can seek guidance in moments of confusion and dismay that challenge our spirits.

I hope we can come together to share our stories and lead others through common experiences and practical tips on opening our hearts to the Holy Spirit’s wisdom. In doing so, we can also find ways to thwart those who seek to undermine the blessings of love, compassion, and grace meant for all.

Finding ways to guide individuals away from hate and foster love and compassion is challenging. I genuinely hope for guidance in this important endeavor and trust that this supportive community will assist me in my quest for a more civil society of believers in Christ, rooted in His message of love and grace.

Love thy neighbor as thyself, with grace and kindness; however, we must also be held fully accountable for our actions when we consciously choose the wrong path in life.
